Peridomiciliary cockroaches (Periplaneta americana) were collected from Llano del Medio community (Panamá) with the purpose of recovering Lophomonas spp., a flagellate protozoan common in the intestine of cockroaches. Two species: Lophomonas blattarum and L. striata were identified under optical microscope. This is the first finding of Lophomonas spp. from cockroaches in Panamá.
